Several UK employment law changes are being introduced during 2026 under the Employment Rights Act 2025. From 6 April, Statutory Sick Pay is due from the first day of sickness and the lower earnings limit is removed, although the amount depends on earnings and the statutory rate. The National Minimum Wage also increases from 1 April, with rates depending on age and whether someone is an apprentice. Other measures, including changes to unfair dismissal and guaranteed-hours rights, are being phased in later, so check GOV.UK for the latest timetable or speak to an employment solicitor about your circumstances.
