Contact your energy supplier as soon as possible and explain what you can afford; they may review your payments and agree a repayment plan based on your circumstances. Ask whether you qualify for the Priority Services Register, energy debt grants or support from your supplier’s hardship scheme. You can also check GOV.UK and your local council for current cost-of-living help, and contact Citizens Advice for guidance. If you receive certain benefits, ask whether deductions from your payments, sometimes known as Fuel Direct, could be suitable.
