Your employer should consult you, explain the proposed changes and use a fair selection process rather than simply dismissing you without discussion. Check your contract and written information for notice, outstanding holiday pay and whether you may qualify for statutory redundancy pay, usually after at least two years’ continuous service. Ask for the reasons and proposed terms in writing, and raise an appeal or grievance if the process appears unfair. If 20 or more redundancies are proposed, different collective consultation rules may apply. ACAS provides free guidance, and an employment solicitor can advise on your circumstances; tribunal time limits can be as short as three months less one day.
