Retirement or receiving the State Pension does not usually stop you working, and you should generally receive the same basic employment rights as other employees. These can include the National Minimum Wage, paid holiday, rest breaks, a written statement of terms and protection from unlawful age discrimination. An employer cannot normally force you to retire simply because of your age, although some retirement ages may be lawful if objectively justified. Check your contract and pension position, and speak to an employment solicitor regulated by the SRA if you believe you have been treated unfairly; GOV.UK also explains how working can affect tax and pensions.
