Retirement or receiving the State Pension does not usually stop you working, and you should generally receive the same basic employment rights as other employees. These can include the National Minimum Wage, paid holiday, rest breaks, a written statement of terms and protection from unlawful age discrimination. An employer cannot normally force you to retire simply because of your age, although some retirement ages may be lawful if objectively justified.
